30 Nov The endless story of Balciana repeats itself at the International Wine Challenge… 20 vintages later.

There are moments in life when everything changes.

Our moment was in 1999 right at the International Wine Challenge in London when our Balciana, 1997 vintage, won both the White Wine Trophy and the Italian White Wine Trophy. What a great success! For the first time ever a Verdicchio, a quite unknown and undervalued variety till then, hit the international scene and this was a very important start for us.

Many years later, exactly twenty vintages later, Balciana has renewed its great success. We are very excited and particularly happy to share with you our joy in receiving for the second time the Italian White Trophy at the International Wine Challenge thanks to Balciana 2017.

We are honored and proud to receive this award which repays the work of the entire Sartarelli Team and pushes us to continue along the same path we took many years ago. Back at that time, our desire was to relaunch a vine, which was almost scorned, while today it is the one of reaffirming Verdicchio as one of the best white wines of Italy.
